![]() After the restore, the clock gadget showed up perfectly, and I thought that I would try uninstalling McAfee again. ![]() ![]() The Monday after uninstalling (without uninstalling the new suite, if that makes a difference), I tried a system restore to before I uninstalled McAfee. Not realizing that the sidebar issue was going to stay around after I installed the new security software, I went ahead and installed the new suite. ![]() (I believe this happened after I rebooted after running the removal tool, although perhaps it happened following the reboot after uninstalling using the Programs and Features uninstall.) The only gadget I had running was the clock it now shows up essentially as a black box, with the other gadgets similarly not showing up correctly when I try to add them to the sidebar. (In the interest of full disclosure, since my McAfee subscription was running out, I decided to try another security suite, with the intention of switching back to McAfee if I did not like it.) After uninstalling, my Windows Sidebar is no longer functional. You may want to seek advice from McAfee Support or the McAfee Forum or you can restore the computer to factory settings (that might include a trial copy of McAfee) or you can reinstall the OS (if using the install disk that came with your computerĪnd/or - you can always try the Eset program that removes other antivirus products: A reinstall of the OS was required to fix that one. ![]() I do recall a McAfee program being installed on a Vista that was already “protected” by Norton. You downloaded & ran the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool and followed the prompts and restarted the computer after the removal process was complete (that removal process sometimes takes a few minutes)?Īre you sure you have McAfee installed? I failed to uncheck the box next to “McAfee Security Scan” several years ago during an Adobe flash player update and it showed up on a computer I was using at the moment but I had no trouble removing it. ![]()
